Enrollment Process

Enrollment Information

  1. Initial Inquiry or Visit
Families are encouraged to begin by attending an Open House, calling the school office, or scheduling a tour with the principal or our early childhood director. This gives parents a chance to learn more about our programs and see the caring, faith-filled environment at Zion.
  2. Pre-Registration
Families complete a Pre-Registration Form and submit a non-refundable registration fee to hold their child’s spot. For Preschool, a registration night is typically held in the spring. For K–8, forms may be submitted at any time. Admission priority is given based on church membership and sibling enrollment.
  3. Required Documents (needed by final registration)
    To finalize enrollment, parents submit:
    • A certified birth certificate
    • Health, dental, and eye exam forms
    • Immunization records
    • Custody or placement documentation (if applicable)
    • Any additional forms outlined in the registration packet
  4. Final Registration
In August, families attend Final Registration to complete paperwork, confirm medical records, pay fees, and receive classroom assignments. A supply drop-off and welcome night gives students and parents a chance to meet teachers and feel ready for the school year.
  5. Financial Aid and Tuition Plans
Zion offers a variety of tuition payment options (10-month, 12-month, or pay-in-full) and encourages families to apply for scholarships or financial assistance through state and Lutheran organizations. Details are available from the school office.

At Zion, we walk with you through each step—helping every child and every family feel seen, supported, and excited to start their journey in Christian education.

Transfer Student Admissions

Zion Lutheran School welcomes transfer students who seek a Christ-centered, academically strong learning environment. Because every child is unique, our transfer process is intentionally designed to ensure that Zion is the right fit for your student—academically, socially, and spiritually.

Step-by-Step Process for Transfer Students:

  1. Initial Contact and Paperwork
Begin by completing the registration form and submitting the non-refundable registration fee. You will also be asked to fill out a records request form so we may receive your child’s academic history.
  2. Document Submission
To move forward with the process, the following items must be submitted:
    • Completed pre-registration form
    • Application and enrollment fees
    • Copy of your child’s birth certificate
    • Up-to-date immunization record
    • Custody documentation (if applicable)
    • Transcripts and records from previous schools (Kindergarten through current grade)
  3. Principal Interview
Once all documentation is received, a meeting will be scheduled with the principal to discuss your child’s academic background, classroom needs, and whether Zion is the best fit. A teacher meeting may also be scheduled as part of this process.
  4. Academic Screening
Students may be asked to complete STAR assessments in reading and math. These tests help determine academic readiness and grade-level placement. If test results raise significant concerns, the principal may consult with the school board before finalizing enrollment decisions.

Decision and Enrollment
Admission decisions are made by the principal based on student readiness and classroom capacity. If needed, school board input will guide final approval.
