Meet Pastor Philip Girardin
Rev. Philip Girardin is the Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church and School in Staunton. Rev. Girardin, more frequently known as “Pastor Phil”, has served Zion since January of 2023. Prior to this he has served congregations in Arkansas and Iowa since his ordination in 2017.
Officially, Pastor Phil oversees all religious learning at Zion Lutheran School, and personally teaches the religion/Confirmation class for the 7th and 8th grade students. He strives to have a challenging classroom that is open to questions and to the inquiries of faith, no matter what the Christian walk of the student.
Pastor Phil is engaged with all aspects of the life of faith at both the church and school and seeks to bring the totality of his skills into the service of the students in his care – whether it be from an old story in past jobs, or to a direct application of Scripture, Pastor Phil strives to bring Jesus to each and every student, to help them feel cared for, and to uplift and support the staff.
Meet Lisa Coan
I’ve been a lifetime member of the LCMS, and hold dear to my heart my Christian education, through my 4 years of Confirmation classes as a child (every Saturday morning). I grew up in a rural setting where the most “looked forward activity” was spending time with my church friends learning the Bible and Luther’s Catechism.
My husband, Darryl, and I met in college (Illinois State) and were both active in the LCMS campus ministry. We moved to Staunton about 30 years ago. All three of our children attended Zion Lutheran School. It was a great experience for them. In fact, they like to reminisce about their experiences at Zion School.
I have enjoyed serving God in many ways throughout my life. I’m happy to be working among fellow followers of Christ, in the church office. My office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. If you have any questions, you may email the church office at [email protected] or call 618-635-2880.
I love to sew clothing for myself and my family, and enjoy music of all kinds, especially the music that my children & husband plays. I play the bass clarinet in the Heritage Band every summer, and I work part time at the Staunton Public library, too.
