About Us
What is Zion Lutheran School’s mission?
Our mission is to guide students toward academic excellence and to prepare them to be Christian Leaders. We are committed to nurturing the spiritual and academic growth of every child.
Do I have to be Lutheran to attend?
No. Zion welcomes all families who value a Christ-centered education. Our teachings align with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, but many of our students come from diverse church backgrounds.
Enrollment & Admissions
How do I start the enrollment process for my Preschooler or Kindergartener?
Start by contacting our office for a tour or joining us for an Open House. Afterward, complete a Pre-Registration Form and submit the $80 non-refundable registration fee to hold your child’s spot.
Does Zion accept transfer students?
Yes! We welcome new students throughout the year. Transfers include a records review and a meeting with the principal. Some may be asked to take a brief academic screening to ensure the best placement. Email [email protected] for more information.
What documents are needed to enroll?
- Certified birth certificate
- Immunization and health records
- Dental and vision exam (per grade-level requirements)
- Custody documentation (if applicable)

Academics & Curriculum
What curriculum does Zion use?
Our K–8 program includes:
- Reading & ELA (with Bookworms Literature Program)
- Math, Science, Social Studies
- Daily Religion classes and weekly Chapel
- Technology (1:1 Chromebooks in grades 1–8)
Do students participate in standardized testing?
Yes. Zion uses:
- STAR Reading and Math (3x per year, PreK–8)
- Iowa Assessments & CogAT (Grades 3–8)
Faith & Character Development
How is faith integrated into the school day?
- Daily devotions and prayer
- Weekly chapel services
- Christian character traits taught through Faith Families (PreK–8)
- Service projects throughout the year
- Christ-centered discipline with Law & Gospel emphasis
Activities & Extracurriculars
What activities are offered?
- Athletics: volleyball, basketball, track, cheerleading, baseball
- Music: Choir (PreK–8), Band (Grades 5–8)
- Scholar Bowl (Grades 6–8)
- School plays, service events, and more!
Is music a big part of student life?
Absolutely! Students sing in church throughout the year to worship and thank the congregation that helps support Zion's mission.
School Life & Schedule
What are school hours?
- Arrival begins at 7:45 AM
- Classes run from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Is extended care available?
Yes.
- Morning Care (6–8 AM): $12/day
- Afternoon Care (3–6 PM): $12/day
- Full Day: $14/day
How much is lunch and snack?
- Lunch: $3.00
- Snacks: $0.55 each
- Students choose their own lunch and snack items starting in 1st grade.
Safety & Support
Is Zion a safe environment?
Yes. Our campus has:
- Secure entry points
- Surveillance cameras
- Trained staff in CPR, AED, and First Aid
Family Involvement
How can families get involved?
Each family is encouraged to volunteer 20 hours per year. Options include:
- PTL committees
- Classroom parties
- Field trip chaperones
- Fundraisers, lunch duty, and more!
Does Zion Lutheran School require uniforms?
No, Zion does not require formal uniforms. However, we do maintain a Dress Code to ensure students are dressed in a manner that is clean, modest, and appropriate for a Christian school environment
Is there a sense of community at Zion?
Absolutely. Zion is more than a school—it’s a family. From the office to the classroom to the playground, students are known and loved by name.
